Shutt VR launch new winter range
UK clothing manufacturers Shutt VR – Shutt Velo Rapide for long – are massively increasing the size of their range by launching 20 new products for the winter season.
The range includes a new waterproof Softshell jacket that, Shutt tell us, will keep you warm when it’s cold and cool when it’s hot. The Softshell, which is cut slim and made from a high-tech fabric from Switzerland’s Eschler, comes with a waterproof front zip, a very high collar to keep the cold winter air off your neck, and plenty of reflective trim. It’ll be available from mid-November at £149.99.
There’s a new stretchy Race Cape in the lineup for 2011 too, and it’s transparent so you can still show off the jersey you’ve got it underneath. Shutt reckon the Race Cape is waterproof, windproof and breathable while a hem gripper helps hold it in place. It’s £59.
Shutt have updated their softshell Race Lite Gilet, giving it hidden rear zips so you can get at your jersey pockets easily. The back is three-quarters mesh for breathability back there and you get reflective beading too. It’s available in white, blue and red colour options and, like the Race Cape, comes in at £59.
The autumn-friendly Coolmax Knicks (£89) feature a new top-end 3D pad from TMF that Shutt are excited about. It’s a Pro-Gel antibacterial chamois that they reckon is as good as anything else out there – we’ve not tried it yet. The Knicks themselves are a 10-panel construction using flat seams throughout to minimise the chance of chafing, and a mesh upper.
Shutt have added bibless shorts to the range as well. They come with a much more basic-looking seatpad, and are priced at a reasonable-sounding £24.99.
The Sportwool jersey line for which Shutt are best know (Sportwool is a mixture of merino wool and poyester) has been updated with several new features including a new four rear pocket design – as well as the usual three, you get an extra hidden valuables pocket back there. The Signature Training Top (£89) looks particularly stylish, and it comes with a zip garages to stop any rubbing on your neck.

I really fancy the Shutt softshell waterproof jacket. At the moment, my main riding is to commute to/fr work, not sure I can justify the price of this nice kit!
new range looks superb - I have several bits already and cant fault it, along with their service, so am looking forward to some decent winter stuff as well.

I like the look of their stuff and the effort they've put into building up the brand and I'd happily buy into it. However they don't cater for the average sized middle aged bloke ie me! If they expanded (!) their sizing range upwards, I'm sure they'd pick up a lot more custom. Until then, I'll stick with Endura who are more pragmatic with their sizing range.

Well impressed with my 'Yateseys' as well wore them for the Tour ride, comfortable for the whole 100 miles.
Love this Shutt stuff, women's kit is great too... I'm based in the US and its so much cheaper than anything else merino based...
Been buying bespoke fit too and if you ask the guys nicely (flirt) they do it for free
Shutt have done a great job of building up a strong, loyal customer base - the kind of customers who tell their friends / club mebers, et al, about the quality of the product and the service (and rightly too). Having built this reputation they are now widening their product range. Some of these items are beyond what I personally would normally pay for a bit of kit, but given the competion, and prices going up elsewhere I could well be tempted to part with some more of my hard-earned in their direction given their excellent track record in product development and customer service.
It's great to see people picking up on these points, as it's exactly what we're striving for! and it's too bad I didn't beat Peter here so I won't repeat the thanks he's said!
I can't say how excited I am about what the future holds for Shutt!

The only comparison between Shutt and the others is that the kit is stylish, well-made, merino-based and not covered in logos. If you actually want a logo or two, they even have a bespoke service which is *still* reasonably priced.
As mentioned by others, Shutt is streets ahead in terms of value-for-money and unheard-of levels of customer service. Pete Bragg (Shutt's marketing director) seems to have actually memorised every customer's order history and preferences - I'm not kidding.
I was majorly let down by their 'bespoke' order, and imo have a long way to go before they restore my faith in them. Not once, but twice they fucked up on my order, resulting in me having to go to a seamstress to put things right. Yes they have me a discount, and some money off my next order to them, but by then I went off ordering from them again. Not a good buying experience for me, so I can't recommend them to anyone. I won't be buying from Shutt VR again.
I think their bespoke service is great, I sent a jersey back to be made smaller at the waist, it was done free of charge including return postage to Portland OR. I think the guys rock...
Even the best companies make mistakes, I know I work for a very large 'shoe company' ... Sounds like they admitted fault and offered you compensation that should be applauded surely? If you aren't happy why aren't you dealing with Shutt?
Sorry you feel upset enough to air your feelings here Kev. We did explain the mistake at the time with the factory using the wrong colour reference and felt that you were happy with both a discount given, replacement jersey and money off voucher.
As fixiegirl mentioned here we offer free repairs etc for the lifetime of the garment under warranty, did you get in touch with the second issue?

What sort of price do they charge?
We needed some kit for work recently and ended up going with Owayo due to timings. I would still be interested in knowing the rates and minimum order quantities though.

I have to say that on value for money grounds Shutt is in a different class to top end market brands like Rapha and Solo.
Shutt is at the top end of the price range that I can afford and I'm quite happy to pay their prices because I know the quality will be good and therefore good value.
I could never afford Rapha/Solo prices and I can't see the value in spending more money if a similar product is available at a lower price which does the same job.
Got to say I love my "Yatesey" bibs from Shutt.
But is that top end market too crowded with Rapha and Solo already?
Great question/debate... Its nice to be compared alongside Solo and Rapha... Though customer feedback tells us we are addressing totally differ riders..

Shutt seem to be regularly bracketed with Rapha, but to my mind they have three major advantages.
1. They are much less expensive.
2. They don't carry the stigma which unfortunately seems to attach itself to Rapha.
3. They are made in Britain.
All this and the quality of design seems to have come on leaps and bounds with these new items!
You're spot on there Nick. Also I think Rapha are in danger of disappearing up their own bottoms with some of their designs (see this great design http://www.rapha.cc/transit-elite-sweater-1/ reduced to £220!) whereas Shutt are genuinely classic.
As for Solo I just don't get their weird made up sponsors names. They just seem naff.
