Revolution_graphic_withlogo_2Track racing comes to ITV4 this winter as Revolution Series signs TV deal
World class track racing will not only be coming to Manchester with the return of the Revolution Series this October, but it will be coming to the nation's living rooms too with the news that Revolution is to be broadcast on ITV4.
Four one hour highlights packages will be broadcast on the Monday following each round of this year's Revolution Series – no news yet on the time slot, but we're hoping there will be time for our tea to go down before the action starts.
Announcing the new TV deal Revolution organisers, The Face Partnership pointed out that the television highlights will provide one of the few opportunities for track cycling fans to see Team GB cyclists such as Sir Chris Hoy, Mark Cavendish, Geraint Thomas and Ed Clancy in action in the UK as they prepare for the 2012 Olympics.
James Pope, Managing Director of organisers Face Partnership said: “The broadcast partnership with ITV is an exciting development for Revolution and will enable us to reach a national audience. Revolution was designed to deliver world class racing as well as entertainment so we are looking forward to translating this format to TV.”
Niall Sloane, Controller of Sport at ITV, commented: “Revolution provides an excellent opportunity for us to extend our cycling coverage beyond the road season. We have seen growing audience figures for our coverage of events like the Tour de France and Tour of Britain so the Revolution coverage will enable us to engage this audience into the track cycling season.”
The first round of this year's Revolution Series is on Saturday 29th October and continues on 19th November, 7th January and 28th January, full details can be found on www.cyclingrevolution.com

His favourite ride is his ‘commute’ - which he does most days inc weekends and he’s been cycle-commuting since 1994. His favourite bikes are titanium and have disc brakes, though he'd like to own a carbon bike one day.

I think it's about time we all bombarded ITV4 with emails thanking them for the new cycling coverage this year - especially the British stuff like this and ToB
This is fantastic news, capture the audience, bring on the old six day racing scene as well!
