Emma Way pleads not guilty to three charges in #bloodycyclists case

Emma Way, who boasted on Twitter of having hit a cyclist, has today entered not guilty pleas via her solicitor to three charges relating to that incident, which took place in May.

The 21-year-old trainee accountant from Norfolk hit the national headlines after the incident involving cyclist Toby Hockley, who sustained minor injuries.

Shortly after it happened, on Sunday 19 May, she tweeted: “Definitely knocked a cyclist off his bike earlier – I have right of way he doesn't even pay road tax!" along with the hashtag #bloodycyclists.

She has been charged with careless driving, failing to stop after an accident and failing to report an accident.

Way did not appear at today’s hearing at Norwich Magistrates’ Court today, and instead it was her solicitor, Simon Nicholls, who entered the not guilty pleas on all three counts on her behalf.

The case will now be heard by magistrates, with a date of 19 November set by District Judge Peter Veits.
