On-One launch titanium Pickenflick cyclocross frameset

On-One have launched a new limited edition titanium cyclocross frame called the Pickenflick. It’s disc brake specific, coming with a full-carbon tapered disc fork.

The tubes are made from shaped 3/2.5 titanium and On-One reckon there’s a huge amount of clearance here – enough for a 44c tyre. The official weight is 1,260g for a small (52cm) frame and another 490g for the uncut fork. 

Oh, you’ll be wanting a price, won’t you? It’s £999 for the frameset.

Sufferfest T-shirts on sale

It’s winter again, and for many of us that means less time on the road and a bit more time in the shed, pounding away on the rollers or turbo trainer. To help the time pass, there are plenty of videos out there like the well-known Sufferfest collection which feature real race footage and helpful encouragement like, “C’mon punk, d’you call that trying?”.

Titles include Blender, Fight Club, The Wretched and There Is No Try – you get the picture – some of which hook up to Strava, as mentioned here on road.cc last month.

Vittoria release Corsa CX belt

It’s a leather belt… that looks like a tyre. If you’re after for a bike-related present for a friend this Christmas, this might be just the ticket. Bike geeks (and that’s you, isn’t it?) will like to know that the tyre in question is the Vittoria Corsa CX tyre.

In the past, we’ve seen plenty of tyres recycled as belts, but this one is actually leather rather than rubber, just given the Vittoria Corsa CX’s tyre tread and graphics. It’s made in Italy and there’s even a Vittoria logo laser engraved on the buckle.

The belt comes in its own a zip case that you can subsequently use for storing your essentials when you go riding.

Café du Cycliste launch winter collection

Clothing brand Café du Cycliste has launched its first winter collection. The star item in the range is the Heidi Winter jacket, which is designed to breathable and high wicking with windproof panels on the front, shoulders and sleeves. It looks really distinctive and is priced at €185.

Rapha offer limited edition Froomey Screen Prints

Rapha are offering screen prints of a caricature of Tour de France winner Chris Froome in a limited edition of 250. The seven-colour gloss screen prints feature a picture by Richard Mitchelson and they’re individually signed. They’re A2 size (594 x 420mm) and cost £75 each from Rapha. 

Free musette and coffee from Prestige Cycles*

Pop into Prestige Cycles in Hove and there’s the chance to pick up a free musette and bag of coffee. There’s a slight catch, of course, and we’ll come to that in a mo.

The musette comes from Il Soigneur who are renowned for their bespoke cycling bags. Handmade in Britain, this one has a swish Harris Tweed outer adorned with the Prestige Cycles logo embroidered in the corner. The bag has a navy canvas inner, shuts with three poppers, has a reflective tag on the outside and an adjustable strap.

OneLife iD

OneLife iD have recently contacted us about their emergency, medical and sports identification systems, some options of which appear to be pretty well suited to cycling.

Essentially, you get a personal ID that combines printed or engraved details with an online profile that can hold additional updateable information. It can be used as medical ID, to carry important emergency ID information, or be used to identify belongings.

You can buy the products from OneLife ID’s website. The Active iD (£18.99), for example, is a silicon band with a stainless steel tag that’s engraved with a unique QR code with a web address and PIN to allow access to the user’s OneLife iD profile and emergency details.

Users can add more detailed information to that profile. Each profile has a public section where you choose the information you wish to share and a PIN-protected section where you can record more confidential contacts, medical information, documents and images.

As well as wrist bands, you can get mini tags and cards carrying the same essential info.

Fuelstrip analyses sweat

Hey, this is an interesting product. The makers of Fuelstrip say that it can detect the metabolites in your sweat so that you can refuel according to your body's exact requirements. You can get a pack that includes strips that change colour according to your sweat's content, and bags of energy chews to refuel on.

This is a US product and we've not heard of it being available in the UK, but we'll let you know if that changes. www.fuelstrip.com
