Nobody will take a trailer to use for 30 minutes before an event. Think about the hassles of packing a car to go to a race; to take anything like a trailer simply won't happen.
If you really want to design something sensible, think about the whole kitbag thing...
What do you need to take? How is it best transported? How is it best transported post-event, when it's wet, muddy and so on.
How best to transport a wet muddy bike in a nice clean car?
How does a kitbag work when you arrive at a race?
Bit of old carpet to stand on?
Shoe bag?
Helmet bag?
...think about what people actually do, rather than what you can design...
Given that even the pro teams at National Series races essentially do this, what more do you want?
At domestic level events, chances are you're parked up on a roadside or in a church/village hall car park with barely enough room to swing a cat. Riders don't need more than a set of rollers or a turbo trainer, a water bottle and a bar or gel and an iPod!
You've been to races right? You've seen how little room is given to riders vehicles and warm up areas....but you would have everyone tow a trailer with them aswell?
Unless you get to a high level, the need for long warms ups isn't really there, to race a 40 minute crit or CX race, all you need is a quick spin on the rollers...
