Replace parts from Sora/Tiagra onto broken 105 shifters

Hey all,

a week ago I had an accident and damaged my left 105 shifter. It seems the spring inside the shifter is broken and I'm guessing changing the damaged parts will help to function the shifter. Can I use the parts from the Sora/Tiagra shifters to repair my 105 shifter? If so, I can then buy used shifter from my buddy and repair my current one. Please help me with your advice. Thanks in advance.

I'm not sure if it's possible or not, but you could download the relevant spec documents from the Shimano website and compare the individual parts to see if they are the same. Also, I would suggest first stripping the lever and making sure that the spring is actually broken, and not just popped-out of its housing.
