Another dangerous driver gets away with attempted murder

On this site we see a lot of, what seem, insufficient sentences when cyclists get hit by cars. Here is one where the victim was walking.

http://www.dailyecho.co.uk/news/15115550.UPDATE__Mum_who_left_model_for_...

We have a driver who drove at a pedestrian and then came back to knock her down.

What does the driver get? A two year suspended sentence (plus a two year driving ban and a restraining order).

If you can get away with a suspended sentence when you drive into someone on purpose, what chance to cyclists have of getting something more for dangerous/careless driving?

If you're new please join in and if you have questions pop them below and the forum regulars will answer as best we can.

That sounds distinctly like attempted murder. And it's certainly grevious bodily harm. And yet she gets (in effect) let off with a suspended sentence. How can that be? Why hasn't the CPS appealed the sentence? And why hasn't the judge been suspended from duties and ordered to go on a refresher course?

Don't know the full facts but what a load of rubbish sentencing- send a message of how you can get away with attempted murder.
