Objects of lust

In which you post bike things which make you go weak at the knees.

Kicking off with the Ritte Vlaanderen frameset....

I'm not even sure I could ride it on messy roads. Maybe I could just stroke it softly.

It's understandable, isn't it? Most normal folk don't lust after base model Pinnacle or cheap BSOs, just as titty mags don't have overweight, ugly women on the front, otherwise gawpers would never buy them 3

Of course not, I want suggesting that, and as you demonstrate, there's another type of 'high end' bike people lust after - like the Stoemper you posted - I'm with you on that one..

The replica pro machines are of course amazing bikes, but you're going to be a target, aren't you?, and let's face it, most are unlikely to do them justice.

Think I'm making a similar point to the earlier post here about wealthy MAMIL's on Cervelo$..

there's a good chance I have you immortalised in pixels then, since I got a few odd pix from the morning race.

What did you think of the day? From a spectator point of view I was unimpressed. Not with the racing which seemed pretty good, but I felt like I'd gatecrashed a private event. Totally opposite to other races I've been to, and more like a club event.

But no-one should care whether their bike makes them a 'target' for some bloke with an attitude problem.

And how does anyone "do a bike justice"? Why does it matter? I really don't get it at all. You buy a bicycle. Therefore it's yours, so you can do exactly what you want with it. Why should some jealous plonker's opinion matter?

I'd happily ride with someone regardless of whether they are on an £8000 pro spec bike or a scruffy old Dawes with mudguards, rack and bar bag. Don't judge a book by its cover.

I buy the best bike that I can afford and then ride it fast and reciprocate the money I put into it back in effort. That is how I do MY bike justice.

Sir Velo, your Cervelo fetish is getting out of hand. Dare I say that Cervelos have an ugly backside.
Bash you are on the right page, Canyons are elegant and my current dream bike, but I fear my budget won't stretch and it may have to be *only* a Planet X next time.

I ride a second hand SL Pro Planet X as my main bike at the moment. It's just fabby... but it's not pretty. I'll upgrade the frame at some point to something that sets my heart a-flutter.

Oddly I don't want one, my knees just go weak looking at it. I'd much rather have one of these

Correct. So correct.

And nah. The new paint scheme on the R5 is butters.

Plus with all the S3's, I'm sure one could be given over to winter use.
