Car flips - please post your local news stories

And there are points, which you can claim for your story. The person with the most points wins a table for four at The Farmer's Dog (second prize : two tables🫢).

The scoring system will probably evolve, in fact suggestions for additional points can be made, but for starters:

Score one point for each of:

Clear picture of car on its roof or side

30 mph limit /residential road

Audi, BMW or "super-car"

Article doesn't mention a driver

Excellent!  Everyone is baffled and can only state what they see (apart from the police, who reported a RTC).

Car flips onto roof in crash with 3 parked vehicles near London Road, Sheffield

Another car flips after colliding with parked cars. Something has to be done about this parked car menace!

Another I'd missed last month:

Edinburgh Live wrote:

Edinburgh car flips on busy road by school as emergency services race to scene

Emergency services in Edinburgh raced to the scene of an incident on Monday afternoon, with a car flipped onto its roof on Saughton Road just metres from a school.

On Saughton Road.  30mph limit, daylight, only mention of drivers was out of concern for their wellbeing at the end.

Because putting "busy roads" and schools adjacent goes together like a high-horsepower carriage.

Festival Way flipped car sparking calls for improvements

Car on side, I'm guessing a 30mph limit, no mention of the driver. I make that three points. Do I get an extra point for the article blaming the parked car for the crash?

I think you get an extra point for their creating this unsustainable car fest of a development and then acting suprised when it turns out to be an unsustainable car fest.

Couple of days back this, how does it score?

From Kirkcauldy.

Just outside 20mph zone,  daylight, reckless van attacked another vehicle, "professional driver" (but only mentioned to reassure everyone that luckily this rascal van didn't seriously hurt him).  Not a "fast car" though.

Not quite a flip, but....

Do I  get a full house (and bonus point for the car resting on its front, ala pass the pigs)?

Clearly a residential area;  Audi (driver of) seemed to be the cause; clear picture; and I don't think there is mention of a driver.

Audi, driverless, presumably residential / 30 mph and I think you get another point for the unusual position of the Honda.

Another lorry tips over at notorious roundabout

I'm not sure how many points I get. There's a photo of the vehicle in it's side but it's not a car. I don't think that it's currently a 30mph limit (it was when they were doing work on the roundabout to drop lorries falling over.....). It does have a powerful engine, but isn't a supercar. The article does mention the driver. Therefore I think I get minus one point.

A car flipped on the B4367 between Craven Arms and Leintwardine at around 7.40pm on Thursday evening. 1 point for a photo.

Five police vehicles attended the scene, along with firefighters from Hereford & Worcester, and Shropshire. All that for one dickhead driver!

Added Sunday: another day, another flipped car in Shropshire. 3 fire crews, police and paramedics were called to a car on its roof on the B555 near Bridgnorth around 7pm on Saturday (photo below).

I'm tempted to award you another point because although the driver is mentioned, the car appears to have flipped pretty much by itself "after a crash".

whatever the wrongs and rights are in this case, you do wish drivers were held to account to this standard:

Crash on Bitterne Road West closes road after car flips

https://www.dailyecho.co.uk/news/24645043.crash-bitterne-road-west-close...

score here of 3 points - not sure of the speed limit might be a 40 mph.

No arrests were made and it wasn't dark, wet or frosty might be areas for more points, but I won't get cocky.

You got a full house! It's a 30 limit, they even have speed cameras in both directions on the hill just past there. I used to try to set them off on my bike, I never managed it but you can get over 30 by the point of that crash

I think I lose half a point as it isn't shown fully flipped, it's only on its side. That would mean 0.75 of a point for the Festival Way one in terms of where that one has come to rest.
