Fatal incident took place at around noon near village of Fenny Drayton

Police in Leicestershire have launched an appeal for witnesses after a 72-year-old cyclist was killed in a collision with a car on Christmas Eve in the village of Fenny Drayton, three miles north of Nuneaton.

The incident, in which a grey Kia Venga car was involved, took place at the junction of Atterton Road and the A444 Atherstone Road at around 12 noon. The cyclist was pronounced dead at the scene.

Investigating officer, Detective Constable Paul Bingham, said: “We are appealing to anyone who witnessed the collision or saw the cyclist or car beforehand to contact the police. If you remember seeing anything please get in touch.”

Anyone with information is requested to leave a message for DC Bingham on the non-emergency number 101, keying in his identification number of 1288 when prompted, or alternatively contact the charity Crimestoppers, anonymously, on 0800 555 111.
