It was reasonably light at 07:20 in Cardiff on Saturday IIRC.

It was twilight so not the best visibility but certainly not pitch black.

FWIW I live nowhere near Cowbridge, but on a similar longitude and prior to the clocks going back it's well dark at 07:20.

Very sad news, hope that the injured are o.k.

sorry ignore my post, it has provided nothing to this discussion. I shall read all of the comments first before wading in with an irrelevant comment again, apologies to those offended or annoyed at such stupidity, I really am sorry.

2nd death in and around Cardiff this month.

Both deaths were on roads I use regularly, it really makes you stop and think if it's actually worth it.

South Wales police previously declined to run a close pass initiative as not enough cyclists were dying to make it worthwhile.

Time for a rethink?

It's being considered, apparently. Though Alun Michael still won't respond on twitter. OpSnap is now better, you can submit video footage directly. IF they don't introduce it I suspect the excuse will be a lack of enforcement possibility.

I agree it's thought provking when things happen so close to home, although, I'd never ride down the A48 near Cowbridge if I have any option, It may as well be a motorway but for the infrastructure not making the grade. It's a horribe road but fortunately there are nicer roads to ride nearby.

RIP. People are idiots. I was out the other day and saw an old couple in a Mondeo going around a 90 degree right-hand bend in the road completely on the wrong side. The road is regularly used by the local TT club and he could easily taken out a handful of cyclists no.

I forgot it rises much earlier in East Anglia than in the west of the U.K.

Well, it was 7.44am in Norwich. This was, and yesterday was quite dull at that time, essentially in the dark. There's no information yet on what direction the riders were going. It's possible it was easterly, as is suggested by some of the photos but, at that time, the sun wasn't even really creeping over the horizon.

RIP.

If it was 07:20 yesterday that is when the sun is low, of course people should drive to the conditions, but we know that many don’t.
