Okey dokes, cheers folks
Yes, done it many times. Always in the bike box and never had any explode...
I have, also, decanted a huge tub of High 5 extreme into a bidon, which I carried in my hand luggage, rather than carry the 2kg container.
*that* caused some interesting times at security. Thankfully it's not a commonly-done thing to cut coke with orange flavoured powder. The man with the rubber gloves was not called for.
I've not had any trouble with them popping either, it's always my damn shampoo that goes first!
I've not had a problem the 2 times I've done it. If you're worried, I put mine inside my empty water bottles so if they do burst it contains the mess. (Also uses up space that would otherwise be useless).
