Back in the Saddle

Figured I may have posted in wrong forum and it got lost so reporting here. As I have never had as serious an injury as this one I am a at a bit of a loss on how to move forward.

So, way at the beginning of March I rather cleverly decided smashing up my ankle would be a good idea. The cast is gone, consultant is pleased with the healing of the break and the physio is quite happy stretching me and pushing me. Now Is the time to get back on two wheels. Again the physio is happy about this as it will help strengthen muscle etc. the question is. Do I use the road bike with cleats or flats. Or do I use the single speed (fixed/freewheel) and again flats or SPD's. Terrain wise will initially be a couple of flat loops of low mileage locally.

Any suggestions gratefully welcomed and appreciated!
