Wiggo on the BBC morning news
As I am on holiday I got to see the BBC news this morning. Wiggo was being interviewed on the sofa and basically said he won't be riding in the TDF. I have to say he came across very well considering how he must be feeling.

What price smiling albert to to win the tour now ?
Last year Wiggins stated his intention to revert back to track cycling for the 2016 Olympics. Wiggins was also honest in stating that he could no see himself able to commit to TdF GC training schedule.
Are you expecting Team Sky to let him lead a TdF team and put Froome on ice for a year?
No, no. You keep your 29 year old current TdF champion happy as he is likely to be leading the team for another few years. Froome and Porte are the TdF head boys, Wiggins is never a #3.
What would be nice though is to see Wiggins in Yorkshire over the depart weekend. Supporting the team and also able to mix with the fans.
I reckon Team sky wont want that, could end up with Wiggins being cheered and Froome being booed.
The majority of the public there will not be cycling people and in terms of overall popularity Wiggins wins hands down.
Whilst I really want to see Wiggo ride the Tour, especially given the form he's in, this is just another example of why Sky and GB Cycling have been so successful - they remove emotion from the decision making process.
Sure, Wiggo is strong enough to ride, but there's bucketloads of evidence to suggest he cannot be relied on to be a number 2 to Froome and help him win. He's a leader, not a domestique, and though he might do an admirable job for 19 stages, there's every chance he could blow it on one or two others in key moments.
Which is a massive, massive shame, because like all of us I was looking forward to yelling "Allez Wiggo!" in Yorkshire and London. Bugger.
Anyway, Sky have less credibility because of this? Bullshit. Just goes to show they can make the impossible decisions, and they're not even swayed by the very obvious corporate and PR motives.
We see these things differently clearly... to me it looks like they took the easy decision!
What makes sky/BC effective is that they have a defined approach, and they then execute that approach without deviation.
Its efective, but if you talk to many people who have been involved with the BC system, its pretty unsavoury at times.
This to me is another perfect example.
The fact that Sky are seemingly unable to 'control' or trust one of their best paid riders to me says more about them than the individual.
Looks like Brad is needing a PR push to get a place in the team.
I feel for him and think over the long run it will reflect poorly on Froome & co if Wiggins is discarded in this fashion.

Just seen this on another website.... so, I think that clears a few things up.
Mr Froome clearly pulls the strings at Sky.
When I read it, I found myself unusually maddened, not quite angered, or hysterical, but certainly vexed. For all that Sky can try and dress this up, this is nothing more than a spoilt child spitting his dummy. I am sure at a level it kind of makes sense, why risk bringing someone into the team that may have personal interests that are not that same as your own, but by not including Wiggins, Froome is turning away one of the biggest engines in the sport.
Which also kind of brings clarity as to why Froome was publicly dragging up the 2012 spat recently... it was about reminding people that Wiggins had short changed Froome then (if you take Froomes perspective as gospel) and therefore Wiggins deserves to be flicked here.
I for one have just lost all interest in Team Sky, in my eyes they have no credibility remaining.
Wiggins, they're called Orica Greenedge... go look them up, I think they're keen to have a word with you.
Re-watch the clip Jimmy - there's no dummy spitting going on here - that's one of the most measured and tactful interviews I've ever seen given the circumstances.
Just imagine if The Badger had been dropped in 1986 in favour of LeMond and how his interview on breakfast TV would've been!
I think you've misunderstood Jimmy - who I'm inclined to agree with - he's suggesting that Chris Froome is the spoilt child spitting his dummy, by rejecting Brad for the TdF team.
When Chris' book was quoted a week or two ago, I figured it was just down to the publishing timeline dictated by the publisher, but it does have the convenient air of 'shielding' CF from criticism in this latest twist.

Makes little sense to me, I have tried hard to like Chris Froome but the more time goes on the harder it is becoming.
