Great response.
It's daft, isn't it. The doping question is always on the table, because, well, it kind of has to be. But to expect sane responses from the riders during press conferences - what do they expect? Some of the riders will try to cheat, and some will get away with it. There's nothing much the clean riders can do about it. Unless there's any proof, they can't point at suspected riders because theres the not insignificant issue of libel. And the rather more significant issue of sponsors and the money that allows the sport to run.
Cav's response, looking beyond the abrasive retort, was spot on. Is it clean? No way to be 100% sure, but it's as clean as the clean riders can make it. What more are they supposed to do?
That's not like Cav....no wait....
I swear reporters are getting worse with regards to the creativity of their probing, same old shit everytime, not just in cycling but every sport. Boring, and awkward to watch a lot of the time too.
I haven't seen anybody question Nibali either, which I find strange considering everything.
you may or may not like Cav for some of the stuff he says or does, but that one was the best ever replies.. "IN THE WORLD"*
*ta... Clarkson
Crap question. Cracking response. Point made. Nothing else to see here...
I wonder which journo cherried up when Cav gave his reply
Yet another case of an a**hole journo trying to engineer a story, but clearly not the one he got
Go Cav! must be very frustrating getting asked about it all the time, and always to the cyclists with a clean history.
The amount of testing in place now is really good, and hope that those dark days are slowly fading away.
It annoyed the bollocks off the 'digger forum', who went on to do his usual damp eyed, damp panted whining so I'm fully behind Cav for this sort of comment.
oh good, I'm all for anything that winds that fool up.
Cavendish in giving a blunt reply shocka!
Who'd've thunk it?
Sometimes being blunt gets the point across better. He's obviously fed up of answering the same question for the millionth time.
ITV4 have a sport promo going at the moment to Grand Master Flash - White lines, which they had to re-edit it as one of the Formula E drivers who was shown on a wide shot has been tested positive for cocaine.
said in many places far worse sports for drugs than cycling now, they get caught because there are so many tests.
Compare to other sports like football etc.
Why?
Nothing wrong with that and it will get the point across that it is about time journalists stopped banging on the drugs drum because they cannot think of a clever question.
