carbon 105 for under £1k

doesnt have the be very carbon to be called carbon, about 8% I believe.

+1 on the MEKK its fantastic bit of kit and definitely ripe for upgrading in the future! The brakes aren't as bad as the reviews say (will be replacing the pads & going for cartridge system though) wheels are great and will be using them till they need replacing. I have got on fine with the tyres but will switch them when the time comes!
I have found that it gets some looks, personally I think it looks great! Got a red/black/white model.
And as for those miserable buggers out there, I can see why they don't say hi as I'm regularly passing them on the climbs (even with there much pricier/higher spec'ed bits of kit )

Suffice to say, rides like a beaut!

I don't think Mekk have been running particularly long (early 2012 I think) I think they have gone for the good frame and made compromises on the parts rather than poor frame and great parts, gives you potential for upgrading and still having a quality bike. I'm pretty tempted by the lower range models too as they have good write ups. As a winter bike.

Weirdly, I've noticed the 'exclusive' miserable-looking lot don't acknowledge our smart-looking club run in matching kit either. Maybe it's the expression that defines them rather than the kit!

Glad you're enjoying the Mekk, I checked out the Focus Cayo and that definitely seemed a good bike.

Sweet, sounds like you've got a good'un. If the frame's as good as you say, then you can slowly upgrade bits and bobs (haunt classified sections on this and other bike sites for bargains) to make an ultimate bike on the cheap.

Put the savings towards some better Fulcrum wheels and shwab tyres – didn't have to upgrade the brakes they are fine- They are actually unbranded/re branded Campagnolos by the looks of it. They will do through the summer. Everything else is great.

The bike is fantastic! – especially for that price. I tried some CUBE bikes before the MEKK and glad I went with the newcomer. Feels like the CUBE but my positioning was better on the MEKK I feel more in control than the CUBE I was on. Pulls along well, its stable and climbs like a champ.

I had a Ribble Sportive that I got rid of last year and the MEKK is much better. For one the paint doesn't come off like the Ribble. Terrible paint on Ribble frames IMO. It was so soft + you have to spend a fortune as the kit on bike builder was pretty bog standard as default. The wheels they put with mine were rubbish and were constantly needing alignment on the spokes so that = more money to upgrade. It really wasn't worth it in the end and the bike felt dull to ride.

The Mekk is Tiagra with a 105 rear derailleur and cassette. Decent chain too. The ICE Crank is actually pretty nice – I have no issue with it. IMO looks more attractive than the current Shimano heavy look.
Ritchy stuff in the cockpit is all nice and the bartape they have used is the comfiest, most absorbent I have had (ahh the little things in life).

I must say there’s lots of brand snobbery in the bike world for my liking. I wouldn't diss MEKK. They are a dark horse newcomer with some already very good reviews. Similar to the way FOCUS came along.
Anyway, I'm very very happy with the Mekk.

The ribble with 105 is £1,134.95. Surely worth the extra! I agree though planet x is good.

The Mekk is a mix of Tiagra/105. Only the rear mech is 105. The brakes and crank are not Shimano.

The Ribble with Tiagra is under a grand.
