I would visit my LBS first (who stocks both brands
) and examine/sit on them both before deciding.
Not enough info on you, your riding style, type, preferences to make a recommendation.
And inevitably you'll get lots of alternative brands. Why these two in particular? Etc etc
I would choose steel over alu every time!
I love my Equilibrium 20. Solid, fast, comfortable. The only downside I would say is that it doesn't have rack mounts, but then I don't think the Defy does either.
Or the new Hoy?
