I would be prepared to accept a row of really heavy duty steel piles, most of which would be obscured from the house by the fence, if I lived there- at the expense of the nutter driver's insurance company, and installed at the time of the repairs.
Bournemouth weekend car-fest. I wonder if this is what the Council meant when it said it had a plan for this summer.
No buildings harmed AFAIK.
A Veolia lorry got stuck under a railway bridge in Oakengates, Telford this morning. It blocked the road and disrupted train services. I saw it on BBC Shropshire's live update page so will disappear soon but the original photo they used (credited) is here:

One reply said "That poor bridge has taken a pounding over the years", suggesting that this is far from the first time it's happened.
not a word about whose van it was, etc

The sea is calm tonight.
The tide is full, the moon lies fair
Upon the straits; on the French coast the light
Gleams and is gone; the cliffs of England stand,
Glimmering and vast, out in the tranquil bay.

1 year for killing one person and injuring 3.
“Whatever the court’s sentence today, I cannot change that, there is nothing that I can say or do that will change that. "
So why bother with any sentence.
2 years ban - what a fucking joke. If the accident was due to type 1 diabetes, then they clearly cannot drive for the rest of their life.
Bridgnorth, Shropshire - a white van crashed through a brick wall in the town centre on Saturday night after the driver lost control.

"Fears of structural damage to a house" after it was hit by a complete twat driving a 4x4 at around 1am on Sunday. - Shropshire Star.
This is in a recently constructed cul-de-sac in a quiet village near Shrewsbury. FFS. And people wonder why I complain about the speed of f**king SUV drivers in the local lanes!
The Star also has articles saying that on Friday a man had to be cut free from a one-vehicle crash on a suburban road in Shrewsbury while another vehicle had hit a street light in the town and overturned in the early hours of Friday morning.
Car collides with tree and 3 other cars. No mention of a driver at all. Police are mystified.

Reads as though the house were moving and the vehicle went one way and the house went the same way.
Here's one from this morning:

Probably best to leave it where it is. Most likely now structural and also makes a rather useful extension.
Self-driving cars to be allowed on UK roads this year
"...drivers will not be required to monitor the road or keep their hands on the wheel" - no change there, then.

Ploughed into a building, at last, some realistic language.
Though of course it was the car that did it, nothing about the driver.
Blimey, the comments get very racist.
But getting back to the hinderance to emergency services, I thought it was cyclists, cyclist infrastructure and LTNs that stopped them on "shouts"
Could never be the "otherwise" law abiding motorists...
Cheers Dave, and over 300 comments, a good thread.
And it seems a gift that keeps on giving.
Just how?
Garage door (s) on the left, car at right-angles. I wonder if the owners know each other.
Police dogs at car crashes - the next new RCC thread! "What's that, Lassie? He's legged it to his mate's house?"
I especially like the way these people leave their ?girlfriend? injured enough to need hospital. The rest of us don't stand much chance then.
Ever more motorised mayhem for the grown-ups in life to deal with. Still, a reminder to cyclists not to venture out after dark, wear a helmet and pay road tax.
Copy-cat!
just cruising around Southend at 3 am, nothing to see here.
Grateful for the excursion:

One can only hope that the consequential damages claimed will be high with a commensurate rise in premium.
(And why do they block out the plate?)
Talk about "blink and you'll miss it"! On this rare foray into US local news my watch was preceded by an advert for cancer treatments.
Nothing is ever a driver's fault, cars will be cars. For once, the good grace of an apology In person. At what point does this house become de facto uninhabitable and uninsureable?
I reckon I'm starting to see some pretty robust fencing going up here and there. Are we getting to a point where you're not safe in your own home in an increasing number of places?
