Mum fined for leaving Truro car park late after stopping to feed her crying baby
Carmen Thompson says if she has to go to court, then so be it
ah yes, the "child in the car/ no rules apply to me" number

Falmouth car park branded 'absolute thieves' and 'leeches' as visitors land £100 charges
The car park owned by Falmouth Harbour is managed by Creative Parking Solutions
Eyes down for when drivers have, for once, lost:
put her off ever returning to Falmouth for future evenings out

despicable
innocent people are getting stung with these astronomical fines

The comments seem to not be as sympathetic as she might have been hoping for...
The darn threading's gone again, you were commenting on the crying baby story (actual alleged crying baby, not drivers in general).
I wonder is Swanpool lady has actually got a point?
Helpful information from the website: "The car park is pay and display from the 1st March to the end of February." https://swanpoolbeach.co.uk/beach-information/
Weird threading.
Seemingly I replied to a post by yourself, over twenty hours before you posted it...
It's because I dress head to toe in black.
I was going to say I've spotted my first Christmas extra driver subsidy AKA the lifting of parking charges in the next few weeks.
East Suffolk Council announce free Christmas parking
Christmas shoppers will be able to take advantage of free festive parking this winter.
But it turns out to be a pretty paltry offer - one day from 4 pm on each place. Let me give you the biggest retail boom town you've never heard of, Wellingborough in Northamptonshire with its free off-street parking.
https://www.edp24.co.uk/news/23107304.east-suffolk-council-announce-free...
yes I saw theyd announced that, its tied in with Christmas light switch on events to be fair, but most of the places have plenty of free parking anyway, and even to pay to park its like only £1 for a couple of hours.
and yes drivers do still complain, but I think its more an attempt to gain good headlines in the local press than some attempt to be "pro car"
Perhaps space didn't allow them to mention the reduced bus fares?
Well you have to have buses running in the first place to reduce their fares. Even when there is a service connecting those towns it doesnt run much past 5-6pm anyway
Drivers are being denied their accustomed annual freebie in Bournemouth and it's Armageddon already.

" Cyclists generally are poor so probably only buy cards."
Both in Salisbury and Bournemouth, councilllors are determined to close down the town centre shops. Drivers are saying it, so it must be true.
and we're back to Skegness's Fantasy Island and a new twist
A stressed dad says he has been "hounded" for seven months over a parking ticket due to his dyslexic son accidentally entering the wrong digits on the machine. Kieran Ramsey, 29, parked at Fantasy Island car park in Skegness with his one-year-old son on Saturday, April 23 and paid for a £6-day ticket but was left with a £30 fine due to entering the wrong car registration number.
I'm a bit confused about who's who. Middle Mr Marshall must be the one with dyslexia, and maybe Mr Marshall senior is the registered keeper of the car? Or did the dyslexic one year old do the parking meter?

Bristol car parking charges to rocket – with some in the city centre doubling in price
will someone please think of the drivers - and Go! Cookedsock
https://www.bristolpost.co.uk/news/bristol-news/bristol-car-parking-charges-rocket-7668838
Parking is not a statutory service, if you feel you can get a better price or a better service, or maybe both, elsewhere, you are free to use those.
I'm sure all the people who claim they no longer come into Bristol because of <inset made up reason> will now definitely not be coming to Bristol.
This one really does seem like a problem.

Lymington High Street traders see drop in customers after Hampshire County Council installs new ticket machines
“There used to be more people popping in between 3pm and 5pm, probably while doing the school run, just to buy something quickly and go again, but that’s died off."

Letter: 'Think twice before visiting Bournemouth'
"Despite several attempts, we were unable to operate the ticket machine.
I looked around the cars parked. None was displaying a ticket. It seemed reasonable to suppose that the machine was out of order."

West Midlands Police say don't exceed speed limit after 'drivers caught out with change in tolerance'
drivers sailing close to the wind as usual
"...enforcement across the country could become stricter with the National Police Chiefs Council saying they intended to review its guidance. Steve McNamara, general secretary of the Licensed Taxi Drivers’ Association, said the changes had had a huge effect on taxi drivers who were being caught breaking the law more frequently😭😭😭."

Kent man warns drivers of little-known change to parking guidance
Government guidance giving drivers a ten minute grace period to leave car parks was withdrawn earlier this year
If the tech now exists for the "clock" to start when you drive in, then why wouldn't it. Why would you expect the "10 minute" rule to work in your favour if you didn't know about it??
'His PCN notice letter shows he left the car park four minutes after his parking ticket had expired. Smart Parking state that he spent 310 minutes in the site having only paid for 300.'
"I think the general public don't know about this. I didn't even know about the ten minute grace period until I appealed and I wanted knowledge to back me up. I had no idea it had been withdrawn, and people need to be aware of that.
https://www.kentlive.news/news/kent-news/kent-man-warns-drivers-little-7...
"Steve McNamara, general secretary of the Licensed Taxi Drivers’ Association, said the changes had had a huge effect on taxi drivers who were being caught breaking the law more frequently"
It's hard to believe he actually said this out loud. 🤣
Something I never knew about has been withdrawn and I feel unfairly penalised?

Angry tourist vows to never visit Bath again due to 'terrible' roads
It will be a cold day in hell before I visit again
He believes navigating around Bath's "labyrinth" of "hideously confusing roads" is "impossible" for a non-local. Mr Porter also slammed current roadworks...and added that "if the council do not want cars in the city, then they should pave the lot and send a solid message". Bath and North East Somerset Council declined to comment.
