Right, we’ve waded through the 1220 comments you left about what you like most about autumn cycling which included having to read POEMS (note to self, never, ever, ever ask people to do that again) but the psychic trauma has been worth it. We have a winner… and because the standard of entries was so high a couple of bonus runners up too who will be getting some roadcc socks.
Our Vulpine Schwag Grab podium is filled by the speakers of two universal cycling truths and one rather personal truth.
Almost but not quite for robbiezhaorobbiezhao for masterful use of the sympathy card with “The cold rivals that of the heart of my wife” - until you realise that it’s not really that cold at this time of the year, even in East Anglia. (Maybe we should send her some socks too.)
Socks also for tells-it-like-it-is “I just love wearing tights” from wrevilo but somehow it lacks the poe… magic of our winner the tells it like it even more is:
“Shining torch through the fog/mist whilst making light saber noises. Obviously…” by Mattclimb
Yep, that's autumn!
Our winner and runners up have been informed - those who posted poems about nature’s paintbrush turning the trees the colours of their fave beige Vulpine shorts - your names are on a list. First offence, but don’t push it eh.
Thanks to Vulpine for a fab competition, thanks to all of you who entered, commiserations to the 1219 of you that didn’t win, but there WILL be another schwag grab along soon.
=====================================================================================
The whole caboodle is worth more than £500 (£502 to be precise) and includes Vulpine’s:
Original Rain Jacket
Cotton rain trousers
Long Sleeve Merino T-shirt/base layer
Padded Merino Boxer/Boyshorts
Storm Cap
Dogtooth Merino Silk Socks
We’ll pick the lucky winner next Monday, usual Schwag Grab rules apply.
You can find out more about Vulpine's autmn/winter range at www.vulpine.cc
Good luck!

The cool crisp air and the fair weather cyclists have all gone back to playing golf

Weather variability.. Raining, showers, Sunny or gales.. love it:-)
Getting out for an early ride so I can watch the sunrise turn the sky a multitude of colours.
The musty fragrance, and crisp crunch of leaf litter
Cycling in the autumn = dusting off the 2000 lumen lights which have been buried in a cupboard since April, and rediscovering just how much fun night riding is!
The countryside has that red/brown beauty to it, and the chill is just enough wrap up a little, but warm/dry enough to still use your best bike and shoes. Yes please!
More space on the road for me now the fair weather riders have gone in to hibernate
nice crisp sunny mornings.....
Slippery wet leaves and low blinding sunlight!
Knowing it's only 2 more seasons until Spring again. And getting home to a steaming hot cup of coffee, once you can feel your fingers and toes again.
Battling through the rain and wind because it's still better than catching the tube!
Returning from a ride just as the rain starts to fall and knowing that you have picked the only nice part of the day to ride.
Cycling with a light... its wonderful
The colour and the effort!
Sunny days feel that little bit more special.
My Autumn Chiltern country rides always give me that lovely damp leaf smell and the low sun breaking through the empty branches.
Riding into work knowing you are warmer than all the pedestrians and you don't need to sit in soggy trousers all day, followed by an early finish to make the most of a nice afternoon.
Slipping and sliding on wet leaves, The gentle mist of rain.
Getting dirty on a mountain bike.
The wind and rain give me a viable excuse for going this slow
The crisp, cold but bright mornings that are perfect for a ride.
Finally having a space in the office bike lock-up.
Not arriving at work drenched in sweat, well, quite as drenched.

Wrapped up warm with a freezing cold nose and streaming eyes... lovely!
Best thing about riding in Autumn? The fact that you're not riding in Winter.
Starting off in the chill of morning, warm merino against the skin. Still being able to use the best bike on the road, or re-discovering offroad trails with the crossbike, with fewer walkers or other road cyclists to negotiate.
And being able to sit outside to enjoy the sunshine, but relying more on the coffee for warmth.
The feeling of riding on a cold foggy morning and seeing the fog over the Danube river, it makes me feel truly alive and even enjoy the nasty weather.
I like Autumn because I can still remember what it is like to ride in the Summer by Winter I am in too depressed
