Right, we’ve waded through the 1220 comments you left about what you like most about autumn cycling which included having to read POEMS (note to self, never, ever, ever ask people to do that again) but the psychic trauma has been worth it. We have a winner… and because the standard of entries was so high a couple of bonus runners up too who will be getting some roadcc socks.
Our Vulpine Schwag Grab podium is filled by the speakers of two universal cycling truths and one rather personal truth.
Almost but not quite for robbiezhaorobbiezhao for masterful use of the sympathy card with “The cold rivals that of the heart of my wife” - until you realise that it’s not really that cold at this time of the year, even in East Anglia. (Maybe we should send her some socks too.)
Socks also for tells-it-like-it-is “I just love wearing tights” from wrevilo but somehow it lacks the poe… magic of our winner the tells it like it even more is:
“Shining torch through the fog/mist whilst making light saber noises. Obviously…” by Mattclimb
Yep, that's autumn!
Our winner and runners up have been informed - those who posted poems about nature’s paintbrush turning the trees the colours of their fave beige Vulpine shorts - your names are on a list. First offence, but don’t push it eh.
Thanks to Vulpine for a fab competition, thanks to all of you who entered, commiserations to the 1219 of you that didn’t win, but there WILL be another schwag grab along soon.
=====================================================================================
The whole caboodle is worth more than £500 (£502 to be precise) and includes Vulpine’s:

No more putting the big miles in when the sun is shining, just go for a ride when you want and as far as I want. It be wet and windy but who cares, so just dig out the cold weather gear and enjoy the peace!
It' s time to try this Vulpine’s collection !
I just love wearing tights.
Oohh, more Vulpine to compliment my jacket!
autumn light and brand new autumn cycling kit
As your a few miles from home not being able to feel your toes and fingertips you think I wish that I would have won that competition from ROAD.CC
Tailwinds!
Glorious autumn, the rolling colourful British countryside on a crisp clear Sunday morning, efforts up hill followed by fast descents dodging wet leaves and potholes, followed by a large hot drink and chat post ride with like minded folks.
It's that sweet spot between the heat of the summer and the cold of the winter. A chance of near perfect conditions for long amazing weekend rides!
It's time to get cold and wet, yet I love it
Off road antics!
The cool fresh air on my face, the rustle of fallen leaves, the golden glow of autumn sun, and the view of skyscrapers poking out of the early morning mist in the city from the hills of Highgate.
But not the rain. Definitely not the rain.
You know the turn of the seasons is finally underway when you start to put on more and more kit for the morning ride to work.
Last: week shorts, top and fingers mitts.
Today: Hi-vis jacket, waterproof trousers and full winter gloves.
The autumn colours on the trees, and maybe the group not pushing so hard, being more chatty than usual, and everyone feeling okay about that.
Crisp, bright blue mornings - to clear away any cobwebs and rubbish from the working week!
Sun shining, wrapping up toasty warm and being the only one on the road
Layering up for the colder weather and being far cooler when I arrive at work, the quieter roads, the tailwinds, the changing colours, and above all, the sunsets on the way home from work.
The counter-intuitive feeling of feeling cold but having a ruddy good sweat on!
This kit would fantastic for me and hopefully would allow me to remain warm, My partner likes stealing my cold weather clothing when we cycle!
Cyclocross!
Lycra bibtights
That sense of smugness I get that I am still making the effort despite the weather or, occasionally, because of it.
Rosy Cheeks, all four of them!
Trying not to be blown off your bike by the howling winds up on the moors
Riding through floods from the most recent storm where the pedestrians and cars just can't go.
The Autumn light glowing against the changing colours of the leaves on the trees - before they make a slippery slushy pile on the road. Oh and being nicely wrapped up against the cold wit my new Vulpine kit
You can go from chilly riding in the morning to warm sunny afternoons. That and pushing yourself out of a warm bed and telling yourself how dedicated you are for doing it.
Autumn sun, leaves still on the trees, everyone one out on a relaxed social, with no one worrying about the next race
The crispness of the mornings make it perfect.
The low light of the early morning with crisp, fresh air and the prospect of spending the day layered up and riding new roads on rides like the latest one posted here: sundayechapee.cc
