Right, we’ve waded through the 1220 comments you left about what you like most about autumn cycling which included having to read POEMS (note to self, never, ever, ever ask people to do that again) but the psychic trauma has been worth it. We have a winner… and because the standard of entries was so high a couple of bonus runners up too who will be getting some roadcc socks.
Our Vulpine Schwag Grab podium is filled by the speakers of two universal cycling truths and one rather personal truth.
Almost but not quite for robbiezhaorobbiezhao for masterful use of the sympathy card with “The cold rivals that of the heart of my wife” - until you realise that it’s not really that cold at this time of the year, even in East Anglia. (Maybe we should send her some socks too.)
Socks also for tells-it-like-it-is “I just love wearing tights” from wrevilo but somehow it lacks the poe… magic of our winner the tells it like it even more is:
“Shining torch through the fog/mist whilst making light saber noises. Obviously…” by Mattclimb
Yep, that's autumn!
Our winner and runners up have been informed - those who posted poems about nature’s paintbrush turning the trees the colours of their fave beige Vulpine shorts - your names are on a list. First offence, but don’t push it eh.
Thanks to Vulpine for a fab competition, thanks to all of you who entered, commiserations to the 1219 of you that didn’t win, but there WILL be another schwag grab along soon.
=====================================================================================
The whole caboodle is worth more than £500 (£502 to be precise) and includes Vulpine’s:
Original Rain Jacket
Cotton rain trousers
Long Sleeve Merino T-shirt/base layer
Padded Merino Boxer/Boyshorts
Storm Cap
Dogtooth Merino Silk Socks
We’ll pick the lucky winner next Monday, usual Schwag Grab rules apply.
You can find out more about Vulpine's autmn/winter range at www.vulpine.cc
Good luck!

Dodging the extra nut jobs in cars who now can't walk because the temperature dropped a degree.
The sense of excitement and danger that comes from heading out just a little bit too far from home, and then having to chase the ever-quickening sunset back as you forgot your lights thinking it was still summer.
The variety of smells and colours that you don't get the rest of the year! Also the roads are a lot quieter than usual.
Completing the Hadrian's Cycleway CTC with my wife and her 70 year old father in fantastic sunny weather
How about if I say please ?
Shame I may have to use my Aldi gear as spares!
the warmth of the cafe stop!!
Being out in the countryside, with no one else about, when the rain clears and the sun comes out, even if only for a few moments.
I love riding in the rain and so I love riding in the Autumn. Nowt wrong with a bit of water, cold, mud, grime...
Love the fact that the cold wet weather is coming, which means wrapping up and getting though it on commuting days and fresh colder weekend rides, seeing other riders nodding and knowing we are not fair weather riders......
Autumn rides mean not having suntan lotion stinging your eyes. Bliss
Cool and refreshing air/rain that stops you overheating climbing up those big hills
Watching the steam boil off from your head, and from your brakes.
The cold bright mornings. knowing the cafe will be warm and the coffee and cake good. The satisfied feeling you get when you are warming up at home after a long ride.
Crisp and misty mornings, as the sun is rising to provide a bit of warmth.
Without doubt, pedalling through changing autumnal scenes in the Chilterns, with the bike purring along and wrapped up warm, is one of the great cycling experiences (and the coffee and cake afterwards is not bad either!)
Cyclocross season starts the autumn!
The roads starting to empty out knowing that in a few weeks time you'll be one of the few.
Bright crisp days, with glorious colours.
Crisp clear days, autumn colours.
You can't beat a bright, clear, slightly chilly autumn morning for a brilliant ride on empty roads
the crisp smell in the morning. the sense of change in the air
The fresh, misty early morning rides before work, taking in the still natural beauty of the New Forest...
This was captured on the way to work last Autumn!
The pretty tree's keeping motivation high, and not overheating on the climbs!
American Midwest colors. Enough said.
The light. Autumn sunsets are awesome. The lack of Tourists in Cheddar Gorge also makes it much more pleasant.
Chance to try cyclocross for the first time
The misty moisty smell of the forest at dawn.
Absolutely nothing. It's the end of Summer. I basically spend Autumn waiting for Spring to come back around.
The changing colour of the landscape and feeling the cold breeze on my cheeks when the rest of my body is properly windproofed!
