Right, we’ve waded through the 1220 comments you left about what you like most about autumn cycling which included having to read POEMS (note to self, never, ever, ever ask people to do that again) but the psychic trauma has been worth it. We have a winner… and because the standard of entries was so high a couple of bonus runners up too who will be getting some roadcc socks.
Our Vulpine Schwag Grab podium is filled by the speakers of two universal cycling truths and one rather personal truth.
Almost but not quite for robbiezhaorobbiezhao for masterful use of the sympathy card with “The cold rivals that of the heart of my wife” - until you realise that it’s not really that cold at this time of the year, even in East Anglia. (Maybe we should send her some socks too.)
Socks also for tells-it-like-it-is “I just love wearing tights” from wrevilo but somehow it lacks the poe… magic of our winner the tells it like it even more is:
“Shining torch through the fog/mist whilst making light saber noises. Obviously…” by Mattclimb
Yep, that's autumn!
Our winner and runners up have been informed - those who posted poems about nature’s paintbrush turning the trees the colours of their fave beige Vulpine shorts - your names are on a list. First offence, but don’t push it eh.
Thanks to Vulpine for a fab competition, thanks to all of you who entered, commiserations to the 1219 of you that didn’t win, but there WILL be another schwag grab along soon.
=====================================================================================
The whole caboodle is worth more than £500 (£502 to be precise) and includes Vulpine’s:
Original Rain Jacket
Cotton rain trousers
Long Sleeve Merino T-shirt/base layer
Padded Merino Boxer/Boyshorts
Storm Cap
Dogtooth Merino Silk Socks
We’ll pick the lucky winner next Monday, usual Schwag Grab rules apply.
You can find out more about Vulpine's autmn/winter range at www.vulpine.cc
Good luck!

Riding head first into the wind! I like a challenge. They call them Dutch Mountains for a reason
cycling over crispy leaves...
Clean and crisp sunday mornings.... and the comforting noise of a well fitted mudguard whistling in the wind....
The slightly smug sense of achievement having cycled to work when it's cold and wet
Those bright, crisp mornings through the parks on the way to work.
When you're out on a cold crisp morning and you see other cyclists and pass that knowing look that you're both "proper" as you can, unlike so many others, be bothered.

Four seasons in one day, and being one of the few out on the roads enjoying them. Taking all of the extra care needed to ensure you always get home and feeling a sense of pride when your bike looks as clean as it does in summer. Looking at bike lights with envy and wondering if 2000lm is really necessary.
Those days are great when it's cold and but dry. Get wrapped up and pound out a few miles.
The expectation of pitting end of season form against all of the weather nature can throw at me.
Darker mornings, brighter lights,
Shorter days, longer nights.
Misted glasses, colder knees,
Windproof jackets, falling leaves.
Thermal headwear, runny nose,
No sunglasses, cadence slows.
However...
Still keep cycling, every day
In all weathers; only way!
Preferring a whisky to a beer for your perfect recovery beverage!
I'm in to win!
crisp air
Finding myself between a stag and his harem in Richmond Park and not knowing whether he's going to charge me or not! Wondering whether I can out-pedal a charging stag.
riding through falling leaves, early morning/late afternoon light with a low sun, removing layers as the day warms, the combination/paradox of both being at one with but also beating the elements by being out there.
No longer summer but not quite winter. The pleasure of wringing every last ounce out of the daylight riding hours before either gritting your teeth and facing the weather head on or plugging in your SADS light and grinding out some workouts in your cold garage on the turbo
getting the warm things out from the bottom draw
Cooler temperatures and clearer roads makes me try harder to stay warm.
The differeing weather conditions which mean i get to wear all og the different items of clothing i have:)
The layer of frost lying on the fields left and right as you hammer down the road making use of the lower volume of traffic
Crisp, cool mornings. Changing landscapes, an explosion of autumnal colours. Not having to be up too early to see the sun rise!
Not being able to ride in straight line because I cant resist the crunch noise of riding over a freshly fallen leaf.
Being out in the foul weather and getting to a warm pub at the end!
Changing colours, fresh crisp air and the first shiver of anticipation as you clip in the pedals ahead of a long scenic ride
Dodging conkers and squirrels
Numb toes, crisp air, warm coffee, that slight post ride burn from the extra embrocation and the perfect excuse to eat that last roastie.
The smug feeling of riding to work in all weather knowing that I have saved a load of money on fuel whilst maintaining my fitness and rugged good looks!
Empty roads, new colours & the sound of my wheels slicing through the air
Post Ride Baths to get the feeling back into your fingers and toes.
