Right, we’ve waded through the 1220 comments you left about what you like most about autumn cycling which included having to read POEMS (note to self, never, ever, ever ask people to do that again) but the psychic trauma has been worth it. We have a winner… and because the standard of entries was so high a couple of bonus runners up too who will be getting some roadcc socks.
Our Vulpine Schwag Grab podium is filled by the speakers of two universal cycling truths and one rather personal truth.
Almost but not quite for robbiezhaorobbiezhao for masterful use of the sympathy card with “The cold rivals that of the heart of my wife” - until you realise that it’s not really that cold at this time of the year, even in East Anglia. (Maybe we should send her some socks too.)
Socks also for tells-it-like-it-is “I just love wearing tights” from wrevilo but somehow it lacks the poe… magic of our winner the tells it like it even more is:
“Shining torch through the fog/mist whilst making light saber noises. Obviously…” by Mattclimb
Yep, that's autumn!
Our winner and runners up have been informed - those who posted poems about nature’s paintbrush turning the trees the colours of their fave beige Vulpine shorts - your names are on a list. First offence, but don’t push it eh.
Thanks to Vulpine for a fab competition, thanks to all of you who entered, commiserations to the 1219 of you that didn’t win, but there WILL be another schwag grab along soon.
=====================================================================================
The whole caboodle is worth more than £500 (£502 to be precise) and includes Vulpine’s:
Original Rain Jacket
Cotton rain trousers
Long Sleeve Merino T-shirt/base layer
Padded Merino Boxer/Boyshorts
Storm Cap
Dogtooth Merino Silk Socks
We’ll pick the lucky winner next Monday, usual Schwag Grab rules apply.
You can find out more about Vulpine's autmn/winter range at www.vulpine.cc
Good luck!

Autumn sunshine, riding clothes look better (IMHO, I bloody love coats), you look tough to casual cyclists as you keep going in to winter (even though it's just riding your bike, right clothes sort out the weather!).
Rain, Jackets, Wind, Jackets, oh did I mention jackets????
Less heat than the summer, but not too cold yet.

I like the quiet roads!
nothing better than a cool breeze, no fear of running out of water, full fingered gloves....
The early morning start when going for a ride; seeing your breath as you get going and the sun burning away the morning frost on the hedgerows and grass. Also feeling the cold on your nose and face when everything else is all wrapped up and warm. Those are my favourite things about autumn.
the colour of Autumn, the smell of open roads and damp air, ahhhh ......
You don't get so sweaty
Chilly starts and warming up when the sun comes out so you can take off the arm warmers!
Hedgehogs, it's all about the hedgehogs!
yes please
Smells like autumn. Haven't entered a Schwag in ages; count me in...
Autumn, not quite as cold as Winter. That's about it.
The best thing about riding in the autumn is the long shadows through the trees near sunset...
...followed by a sneaky post-ride pint with your mates.
There is something magical on a crisp Autumn morning riding down a quiet lane, with weak sun on your back; leaves of every shade from yellow through crimson to purple waiting to cascade down to swell the ever growing multi-coloured carpet. The crunch of your tyres zipping through the swathes of wind strewn leaves.
...because it proves my theory 'there is no such thing as bad weather, just bad kit'.
Not sweating like a maniac at the end of a ride is pretty nice
Cool, crisp mornings and the knowledge that birthday and Christmas are coming up and new kit is on the wish lists
The comfort of not needing to worry about overheating.
Or being dry.
Love the colder weather and riding hard to avoid the incoming rain
Cycling in autumn and spring is great because you dont overheat in the same way you do in the summer
Crisp morning commutes and being able to watch the sunrise over the sky line, obviously when the weather permits and its not teaming down with rain.
Because there's no such thing as inappropriate weather, just inappropriate layers
we have to ride harder to stay warm
No cycling on Eurosport; no excuses!!
Love the fact that the cold wet weather is coning, which means wrapping up and getting though it on commuting days and fresh colder weekend rides, seeing other riders nodding and knowing we are not fair weather riders......
yes please
I sweat less so get to eat dinner earlier
Warming up after the first 10 minutes!
