Right, we’ve waded through the 1220 comments you left about what you like most about autumn cycling which included having to read POEMS (note to self, never, ever, ever ask people to do that again) but the psychic trauma has been worth it. We have a winner… and because the standard of entries was so high a couple of bonus runners up too who will be getting some roadcc socks.
Our Vulpine Schwag Grab podium is filled by the speakers of two universal cycling truths and one rather personal truth.
Almost but not quite for robbiezhaorobbiezhao for masterful use of the sympathy card with “The cold rivals that of the heart of my wife” - until you realise that it’s not really that cold at this time of the year, even in East Anglia. (Maybe we should send her some socks too.)
Socks also for tells-it-like-it-is “I just love wearing tights” from wrevilo but somehow it lacks the poe… magic of our winner the tells it like it even more is:
“Shining torch through the fog/mist whilst making light saber noises. Obviously…” by Mattclimb
Yep, that's autumn!
Our winner and runners up have been informed - those who posted poems about nature’s paintbrush turning the trees the colours of their fave beige Vulpine shorts - your names are on a list. First offence, but don’t push it eh.
Thanks to Vulpine for a fab competition, thanks to all of you who entered, commiserations to the 1219 of you that didn’t win, but there WILL be another schwag grab along soon.
=====================================================================================
The whole caboodle is worth more than £500 (£502 to be precise) and includes Vulpine’s:
Original Rain Jacket
Cotton rain trousers
Long Sleeve Merino T-shirt/base layer
Padded Merino Boxer/Boyshorts
Storm Cap
Dogtooth Merino Silk Socks
We’ll pick the lucky winner next Monday, usual Schwag Grab rules apply.
You can find out more about Vulpine's autmn/winter range at www.vulpine.cc
Good luck!

It's cross season! What's not to like about slogging around a muddy playing field in Essex?
It makes me feel like a wolf!
It makes me feel like a wolf!
I like the anonimity of commuting in the dark and there's something comforting about knowing the gear you are wearing will keep you warm and dry regardless of the weather
Best time of the year
Looking and feeling epic cycling in the bad weather.
Starting a ride in the cosy semi-darkness or a misty morning, breathing in the fresh cool air while listening to my wheels rolling over fallen yellow leaves.
Soon a rust red sun shows itself as a perfect disc hovering above the misty landscape as I see my breath condensing in the chill, glad I chose to wear gloves. I can feel my body heat rising from my chest under my jacket before escaping at the collar to warm my neck. The air is still, even the birds are quiet, no dawn chorus today, it feels as if I have the road to myself as the miles go by. The sun gradually brightens casting long shadows across the road, not too hot nor too cold, everything feels just right, relaxed and tranquil.
Sunday rides on crisp, sunny mornings. Bliss!
Beautiful colour change in the woods round us and it's cooled enough to stop me sweating quite so much ...
I like cycling in the autumn/winter because of the fresh crisp air with that wee cold nip and in the winter cycling through the snow passing the cars that get stuck
Crisp air, not too hot nor too cold, colorful leaves everywhere. Autumn is awesome
Finding the dusty box from under the bed containing all the knee/arm/neck/head/hand warmer.
The unexpected warmth and golden light on a sunny day.
That heart-stopping moment of riding over fallen leaves when something goes "bang" - and then relief when you realise you just rode over a hidden conker...
Shining torch through the fog/mist whilst making light saber noises. Obviously..
The achievement of commuting in just about the worst nature has to throw at you. Like today. Short of frogs and pestilence it really was very very varied indeed.
Tea and cake at the end of a hard ride!
Just bought Cannondale synapse road bike...havent ridden for 50 years so this autumn is going to something else!
Fewer MAMILs on the road , no need to shave my legs, quicker commutes on bike vs. driving due to huge amount of cars on the road.
Lusting after new autumn clothing from Vulpine.
The crisp morning air and changing landscape...
My favourite thing about cycling in Autumn is cycling. I love all seasons. I love riding. I love riding in all seasons. Each season brings something new and something different. Autumn brings fresh crisp smells and sights. Riding in Autumn cleanses the body and mind as well as the trails. Ride and enjoy every season! As it is now Autumn I enjoy cycling in Autumn best.
I'm not drenched in sweat early in the ride.
Yes please.
The leaves of course. And lots of them!
A cone of lights in the mist, tyre hiss on wet asphalt, backstage in the city while the cars are asleep.
Breath out like the clouds, clouds lower than hillsides, russets and scarlets and umbers knee deep.
a leisurely ride through the changing trees and some autumnal sun.
the crisp cool air and autumnal colours
This pack is very cool.
not having to get up quite so early to be on the road at the crack of dawn
