Right, we’ve waded through the 1220 comments you left about what you like most about autumn cycling which included having to read POEMS (note to self, never, ever, ever ask people to do that again) but the psychic trauma has been worth it. We have a winner… and because the standard of entries was so high a couple of bonus runners up too who will be getting some roadcc socks.
Our Vulpine Schwag Grab podium is filled by the speakers of two universal cycling truths and one rather personal truth.
Almost but not quite for robbiezhaorobbiezhao for masterful use of the sympathy card with “The cold rivals that of the heart of my wife” - until you realise that it’s not really that cold at this time of the year, even in East Anglia. (Maybe we should send her some socks too.)
Socks also for tells-it-like-it-is “I just love wearing tights” from wrevilo but somehow it lacks the poe… magic of our winner the tells it like it even more is:
“Shining torch through the fog/mist whilst making light saber noises. Obviously…” by Mattclimb
Yep, that's autumn!
Our winner and runners up have been informed - those who posted poems about nature’s paintbrush turning the trees the colours of their fave beige Vulpine shorts - your names are on a list. First offence, but don’t push it eh.
Thanks to Vulpine for a fab competition, thanks to all of you who entered, commiserations to the 1219 of you that didn’t win, but there WILL be another schwag grab along soon.
=====================================================================================
The whole caboodle is worth more than £500 (£502 to be precise) and includes Vulpine’s:
Original Rain Jacket
Cotton rain trousers
Long Sleeve Merino T-shirt/base layer
Padded Merino Boxer/Boyshorts
Storm Cap
Dogtooth Merino Silk Socks
We’ll pick the lucky winner next Monday, usual Schwag Grab rules apply.
You can find out more about Vulpine's autmn/winter range at www.vulpine.cc
Good luck!

I love riding in winter because its the time when hard miles = spring and summer smiles.
This would be my first autumn / winter season in the saddle. I am looking for some winter clothing so this would really help!! Look out Essex!
Knowing that when you get warmed up you'll feel comfortable rather than sweating your nuts off
Knowing you dont have long till your training is moved indoors and you no longer have yourself to yourself.
You then have your wife and kids asking you to do things because you are in....please please please winter go away!
Going out for a ride as dusk approaches, then flicking on the Cree's to illuminate badgers, rabbits, deer, owls, bats noting beats the feeling that gives you!
Soup at the cafe instead of cake.
The sun rises at this time of year can be quite spectacular, which makes the pre-work ride just that little bit easier to get up for. It's also (usually) just the right temperature to sport a few layers of all the new get-up you've bought that year. And then of course look a bit pro while having your post-ride pre-work espresso at the favourite cafe stop in town while the commuters are rushing to work like sullen face zombies.
The glory of a sunrise ride to work with the colour of the autumn leaves
The long shadows of the golden Sun stripped across the grey tarmac flash over my eyes, as I cycle through the dark green Scot's Pine forest, with the scent of pine filling my lungs as I climb to the far off heather top moor on a crisp clear early Highland morning - my Vulpine Autumn cycling gear beating away the cold, yet still air - with only the sounds of the leaves under my tires and the Geese chattering to each other above - on a much longer journey than my own...
Being called "hard core" by the rest of the cyclist's at work. As they stop riding when it gets to cold.
You've got to love a cold morning ride and a coffee when you get home

That feeling of your lungs being cleaned by crisp fresh air.
cycling alongside the Leeds Liverpool canal with Golden leaves on the trees and a fine mist on the water
Autumn the time of year when you can drift through leaves off road, get to dig out the warm merino tops for the commute to work and have plenty of space to park the bike at work; as all the other riders are fair weather cyclists. The Sunday morning spin is clear and crisp and the coffee when you get home warms you on the inside like never before.
Knee warmers are my favorite thing about riding in autumn. (Oversocks come in a close 2nd)
so cold....
Heading out as dusk approaches then flicking on the Cree's to see badgers, foxes, bats, owls, deer, rabbits nothing beats the feeling that gives you!
We get to keep doing our sport when all the summer sports have stopped.
The smell of leaves and smoke, and the wonderful colours and quality of the light.
The fresh air and fog in the morning. Brilliant!
Finally being able to justify the 75% of my cycling wardrobe dedicated to dealing with grotty weather. Now, how did I end up with an odd number of overshoes?
A good excuse to replace old gear that is so last year!!
The way I like cycling in Autumn is when you cycle through the leave on the road and blow them away with your speed.
Feeling snug and warm afterwards!
I love a good winter bike...and autumn is when they start to make an appearance
quite enjoy the challenge of wearing the right thing for the right weather.
It's cross season! What's not to like about slogging around a muddy playing field in Essex?
